Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Mainoo and Garnacho LATEST, Fermin TRUTH, Tottenham TARGETS
Football transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has dropped updates on several compelling deals, including the latest with Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, while he has revealed who Spurs will likely chase.
Real Madrid deal close
Ligue 1 side Marseille are ready to complete a big deal by securing Real Madrid star Dani Ceballos.
Romano reports on YouTube: “Olympique de Marseille are not only working on a deal to bring in Hamed Traore, a player Roberto De Zerbi knows very well, but are on the verge of reaching an agreement with Real Madrid for Dani Ceballos.
“It’s been a crazy day around him. Why? I told you Marseille’s negotiations for Ceballos were a surprise. It came after Ceballos shared on his social media after the game against Oviedo won by Real Madrid: last dance. It was quite a strange message. It opened the door to a potential move. Real Madrid and Marseille have been working late into the night for the details of this deal: a loan with an obligation to buy at €15m.
“It’s not a done deal yet. Ceballos is pushing for the move. He wants to play. Marseille are optimistic.”
Fermin Lopez to Chelsea latest
Romano has also given an update on the situation of Fermin Lopez, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea from Barcelona. Here’s what’s really going on:
“Chelsea spoke to the player’s agents on Tuesday. There was direct contacts to ask about the situation and understand the contract details.
"I can tell you that Barcelona sources are denying any bid. Barcelona guarantee that they don't have any official bid from Chelsea, any formal proposal, any email, this or that.
"There is no club-to-club contact as of now. We're in the final days [of the window], so this is not going to be a matter of weeks or months; obviously, it's a matter of hours and days, so this could change any moment.
"But there is no club-to-club contact, no official bid from Chelsea, no concrete negotiations taking place, nothing really strong to this report. Chelsea appreciate Fermin, for sure, he's a player they like.
"But Chelsea, first of all, like many players, not only Fermin. Another thing I want to say: who doesn't like Fermin? He's one of the best around the world in his position, very young, big potential.
"This deal could only be possible if Barcelona and the player decide to open the door to an exit, which is something that hasn't happened so far, and if Chelsea decide to bid, which is something that hasn't happened so far."
Other Chelsea transfer updates: Garnacho a matter of time
Romano also dropped three updates on other Blues targets, including Julio Enciso, whose move to sister club Strasbourg appears in jeopardy.
He says: “Chelsea keep working for Xavi Simons, I can guarantee that. They are in contact with people in charge of the deal.
“Garnacho is going to Chelsea. I maintain my position. We just wait for the formal steps. But he’ll be a Chelsea player in my opinion. So they’re not working on Fermin as a negotiation.
“Meanwhile, there’s no green light for Julio Enciso because of the medical. It’s not 100% collapsed yet from what I’m hearing but still not final approval.”
Mainoo transfer stance
Romano says the situation with Kobbie Mainoo is one that could explode shortly. The Man Utd midfielder is linked with a move away from the club, with his discontent at Old Trafford alerting several suiters, with FootballTransfers exclusively revealing Brighton are interested in exploring a move.
“I think the situation will definitely be more clear in the next 24-48 hours because there will be conversations. Man Utd will have to discuss with Kobbie Mainoo to understand the situation. He was disappointed after the last game, but it doesn’t mean he will 100% leave. But as of Tuesday night, I can guarantee there are no negotiations. There’s nothing concrete at the moment,” Romano says.
New Tottenham targets
It’s been a frustrating transfer window for Tottenham, who have been unable to get the deals over the line that they wanted.
Romano has given an update on several rumours surrounding Thomas Frank’s side – including that of Adrien Rabiot.
He says: “Rabiot is being linked with several clubs because he’s being offered to several clubs as an opportunity on the market because he is an opportunity on the market: €15m. He’s ready to leave Marseille even if the coach De Zerbi said that they can maybe find a solution. But at the same time, he’s being offered. He was offered to Man Utd last week. The Tottenham links are because the player is being proposed. For Spurs, the focus now is to find a No.10 and a winger.
“Spurs haven’t left the table for Savinho yet. But it still depends on Manchester City. The story for Rodrygo and Man City – the only way for the Savinho deal to happen – is still not accelerating because it depends on the pricing on Rodrygo, and his pricing and salary is way higher than that of Savinho. That’s why we don’t have a green light yet. It’s not something that’s advancing at this point but everything is open.
“Tottenham are calling for several players. They called for Tyler Dibling but never made a bid. They made an enquiry but the player went to Everton. They called for Xavi Simons but he’s already in agreement with Chelsea. Morgan Rogers is a dream target but Villa don’t want to sell. So it looks very difficult. In the last 24-48 hours, they’ve made calls for other players: Lucas Paqueta at West Ham and Semenyo at Bournemouth. Soon it’s time to make final decisions and Spurs movements are going to be one to watch in the final days of the window.”
