Crystal Palace issue strong Marc Guehi response after Man Utd bombshell
Manchester United have been linked with a shock January move for Marc Guehi, but Crystal Palace believe that only Liverpool could attempt to sign him in the winter, according to a credible source.
The England star remains the subject of intense speculation as his contract is expiring at the end of the season, allowing him to negotiate with clubs, albeit only foreign ones, from 1 January.
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner confirmed in October that Guehi had informed the Selhurst Park outfit of his desire to pursue a new challenge in 2026 after a summer move to Liverpool collapsed at the 11th hour.
The Reds remain interested in the 25-year-old, while the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also exploring a potential move. On Wednesday, reports claimed that Man Utd are also ready to enter the race for the centre-back.
While it is believed that Guehi's foreign suitors will only attempt to get him on a Bosman deal, Liverpool and Man Utd have been associated with a January move, which would require parting with a transfer fee.
Palace only fear Liverpool
However, according to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace are not worried about Man Utd's recent links with Guehi. As far as the Eagles are concerned, Liverpool will pose the only credible threat in January.
It is thought that Liverpool could conceivably revisit the £35 million (€40m) deal they had agreed with Palace in the summer. The Eagles were ready to accept this fee, but the transfer collapsed because they failed to source an adequate replacement.
Palace are confident that none of the European giants that have been linked with Guehi will attempt to make a January move for the defender. Only Liverpool, whose defence has been a shambles and who are short of options after Giovanni Leoni's ACL injury, will be ready to pay a fee.
Indeed, there is a sense of urgency from the Reds to wrap up a deal for Guehi quickly due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Ibrahima Konate's future.
Liverpool have made him a new contract offer, but the France international has yet to make a decision on whether to extend or pursue a move to Real Madrid in 2026, according to Fabrizio Romano.
