Vinicius Jr has reacted to Real Madrid’s signing of Arda Guler with a tweet that’s sure to rattle one or two Barcelona fans.

Real beat their arch-rivals in the race for Guler, completing an initial €20m deal to sign the Turkish midfield wonderkid from Fenerbahce on Thursday (July 6).

And Vini Jr didn’t seem remotely surprised that the 18-year-old had decided to join the 14-time European champions, amid interest from Barca and Arsenal.

Welcoming Guler to Real, the Brazilian star tweeted: “Uno más que elige el más grande” (Spanish for “One more who chooses the greatest”), followed by white heart and heart-eyes emojis.

It’s hard not to interpret Vinicius’ tweet as a cheeky dig at Barca – who had already provisionally agreed a deal to sign Guler.

And Fenerbahce would have preferred to sell to the La Liga champions as they would have got Guler back on loan for next season, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.

The latest new face at the Bernabeu

Guler broke into the Fenerbahce first team just six months after his 16th birthday and went on to make 51 appearances for the Istanbul giants, scoring nine goals and helping them to glory in last season’s Turkish Cup.

The former Genclerbirligi youngster made his senior debut for Turkey last year and has won four caps so far, bagging his first international goal in last month’s Euro 2024 qualifying victory over Wales.

He becomes Real’s third signing of the summer, following fellow midfield prodigy Jude Bellingham – who completed a €103m switch from Borussia Dortmund – and left-back Fran Garcia – who has returned to the Bernabeu from Rayo Vallecano after Los Blancos triggered his €5m buy-back clause.
