Real Madrid want Brahim Diaz back after THREE YEARS out on loan

Brahim Diaz has spent the last three seasons on loan with AC Milan from Real Madrid, but the Spanish and European giants have had a change of heart about his future, according to reports in Spain.

Brahim joined Real from Manchester City in a €17.3 million transfer in January 2019, but was farmed out on loan to Milan eight months having made just five La Liga starts in that time.

But the Malaga-born midfielder has flourished at the San Siro, and after helping the Rossoneri to the Serie A title in 2021 is enjoying his statistically best season to date, with four goals and two assists tallied at a rate of one every two games.

He reminded wider European football of his ability on Tuesday with the winner against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League, and Milan are understandably keen to make his deal permanent. But Real Madrid have other ideas.

Real want Brahim back

"The possibility of Milan convincing Madrid's bosses seems increasingly distant because their intention is precisely the opposite," report Relevo. "They want him to return to the Bernabeu and are going to offer him a new contract until 2027.

"This offer will also mean a salary increase because Brahim arrived as a bet for the future, but that future is now a reality. As well as more money, his place in the squad will also be assured."

Madrid's change of heart regarding Brahim would appear to make sense from a personnel point of view. Real have lacked a No.10 able to play between the lines since Isco left on a free for Sevilla in August.

Brahim can also operate out wide and provide cover for Karim Benzema further forward. With Toni Kroos' and Luka Modric's futures uncertain, Federico Valverde is more likely to be used in midfield next term, creating a shortage on the wing.

Benzema having an understudy Real don't need to pay for while waiting on the summer 2024 of Brazilian prodigy Endrick from Palmeiras is also a welcome bonus.
