Arsenal get unexpected £30m transfer offer fans will LOVE

Arsenal are set for a £30 million cash injection with Nottingham Forest ready to launch a bid for out-of-favour left-back Nuno Tavares.

Arsenal have spent more than £200m on players this summer, with Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya all arriving at the club.

The Gunners have made around £30m back selling the likes of Granit Xhaka and Matt Turner to Bayer Leverkusen and Forest respectively, but with the spectre of UEFA's FFP rules hanging over them, more sales would be welcomed by sporting director Edu.

And the next player to leave North London looks likely to be Tavares, with more than one Premier League club interested in his signature.

West Gham and Forest want Tavares

"West Ham and Forest have both shown interest in Nuno Tavares," reports the Mirror's John Cross. "Forest are hoping to do a £30m deal."

Whether the Hammers match that number having baulked at a similar asking price for Manchester United's Harry Maguire remains to be seen, but Forest have certainly splashed the cash since returning to the top flight last season, spending around £140m on players last summer.

Tavares spent last season on loan with Marseille, scoring six goals from the left of Igor Tudor's preferred 3-4-2-1 system, and has an ETV of €18.7m (£16m) per FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm, so £30m would be good money for Arsenal.

Arsenal plan to raise further funds with the sale of Kieran Tierney to Real Sociedad if not Manchester City or, perhaps least likely, Celtic, while Gabriel's future looks uncertain after he was dropped for the season opener against Forest.

So many left-footed defenders being on the market might seem absurd, especially in light of Timber's ACL injury, but Mikel Arteta looks ready to switch to a back three system this season, and the returning Oleksandr Zinchenko can still cover the left flank.
