Tottenham’s new signing Djed Spence hasn’t had the best start to life at the north London club, having rarely played since joining them in the summer transfer window.

Spence joined Tottenham after a fine loan spell at Nottingham Forest where he spurred the club on to promotion to the Premier League, and made his move from Middlesbrough.

Given Antonio Conte effectively uses his full-backs, this was seen as a smart move for him to make, but it hasn’t worked out well at the start.

So far this season, Spence has played just one minute in the Premier League and his sister has now hit out at Conte following Tottenham’s defeat to Arsenal in the North London Derby on Saturday afternoon.

Spence's sister takes dig at Conte

Tottenham lost 3-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, ending their unbeaten start to the season and things changed rapidly after Emerson Royal was sent off in the second half.

The Brazilian was given his marching orders after a rash tackle on Gabriel Martinelli and Tottenham conceded after that, propelling them to a defeat.

After the match, Spence’s sister took to Instagram and posted a reposted a picture of the result with the caption “Could’ve been different”, insinuating that Spence starting would’ve changed things for Tottenham.

Spence had impressed on loan for Forest last season and would’ve liked to have been given more chances in the Tottenham first team in this campaign, and that may come around soon.

Emerson will miss the next three Premier League matches for Spurs, and that may give Spence a chance to prove his credentials and quality in the Tottenham first-team.

Matt Doherty is another player he will have to compete with to get that spot, and it was the Irishman that was brought on in the wake of Emerson’s sending-off against Arsenal at the weekend.
