Real Madrid target Haaland and Bellingham to lead new era
Real Madrid are considering a sensational move for Erling Haaland this summer as part of a plan to revolutionise the team with young talent including Jude Bellingham.
Haaland only joined Manchester City last summer and the Norwegian is believed to have a release clause of €200 million which becomes active in 2024, however Real are considering making a move this year.
Real see Haaland as a long-term successor to Karim Benzema, with the 35-year-old out of contract in the summer and facing an uncertain future at the club, along with manager Carlo Ancelotti.
FAREWELL?: Benzema and Ancelotti could both leave Real Madrid this summer
While Haaland is happy with his current situation, the 22-year-old has previously indicated that he would prefer to move around clubs rather than stay with a team for many years and the Independent claim that Real are looking to ‘play on any uncertainty’ regarding City’s alleged financial breaches.
Real had previously been considering another move for Kylian Mbappe but the club are still believed to have tension towards the Paris Saint-Germain after the way he reneged on an agreement to join them last summer.
There had even been talks of signing both Haaland and Mbappe but Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is now thought to be ‘intrigued’ at the possibility of testing City’s resolve for their star striker.
Real determined to beat Premier League sides to Bellingham signature
Bellingham, meanwhile, remains Real’s top priority this summer, with the 19-year-old set to leave Dortmund, however the Spanish side will face heavy competition from Liverpool and Manchester City.
Liverpool are thought to be frontrunners for Bellingham’s signature but Real are hopeful they can convince the England international to join them and add to their young core.
MOVES: Real hold meeting with Bellingham ahead of summer move
However, Dortmund are likely to demand as much as €150m for Bellingham, a figure which Real are wary Premier League sides will have more chance of meeting than them.
The likelihood of Real signing both Haaland and Bellingham this summer is incredibly slim but the La Liga outfit could step up their chase for the City star if they end up losing out on the Dortmund teenager.
