EXCLUSIVE: Man Utd slash Maguire price amid Spurs and West Ham interest

Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire could make a summer transfer to either Tottenham or West Ham, according to FootballTransfers’ sources.

Maguire has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford since Erik ten Hag took command of the side last summer, and having dropped down the pecking order to such an extent that left-back Luke Shaw is now preferred to him in his natural role, he is set for a move.

FootballTransfers understands that United are so keen to allow the England centre-back to leave, they will accept a bid in the region of £40 million from their Premier League rivals. Previously, it was thought a deal would be triggered around £50m.

A switch to Tottenham is likely to hinge on the presence of Brendan Rodgers at the London club next season. FootballTransfers previously revealed that Spurs are eager to attract Leicester pair James Maddison and Youri Tielemans to the capital if the former Liverpool boss takes charge.

Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot appears in pole position to take the Spurs job at present, suggesting that Maguire will not be bound for Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte is another player FootballTransfers understands Spurs are tracking.

Maguire, though, could still head to the capital, with West Ham the other club interested in the 30-year-old, who Man Utd recruited from Leicester for £80m - a world-record fee for a centre-back in 2019.

How much is Harry Maguire worth?

Although Man Utd are set to accept a £40m fee for Maguire, this is still a figure about his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV). According to our model, the England defender is only worth in the region of £25m (€28.5m).

He had a peak ETV of £52m (€59m) back in January 2021, after which time his valuation has steadily declined month on month. Under contract until June 2025, his value has declined this season largely because of his lack of playing time under Erik ten Hag and would likely bounce back at a new club where he was given a regular chance.

Tottenham or West Ham could provide him with that opportunity.
