Messi ready to QUIT PSG and terminate contract

Lionel Messi could terminate his contract with Paris Saint-Germain after his suspension by the club, reports in France claim.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner is ending his time in France with a bang. The Parisians suspended their star man on Tuesday following an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia the day prior which caused the 35-year-old to miss training.

Messi will not get paid for the next two weeks, nor will he be able to train with the team. This recent escapade has pretty much sealed his exit from PSG, and his time in France's capital will ultimately go down as a failure with some suggesting that he purely went there for the money.

Both sides are clearly ready to end their association, and the World Cup winner may even try to get out of his contract prematurely.

What next for Messi?

According to Le Parisien, Messi is weighing up the possibility of approaching the club over a contract termination. He is scheduled to return in 10 days, but the report suggests that he may not turn up to training on that date.

It is still unclear what the future will hold for Messi. David Beckham's Inter Miami are still quietly confident of securing a deal, while the real favourites to land the soon-to-be 36-year-old are Barcelona and Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia, who have made a €400 million-per-year offer.

Messi is understood to favour a return to the Blaugrana and RMC claim that he is willing to take a significant pay cut of up to 66 per cent to get back to the Camp Nou - something he will have to do given Barcelona's dire financial situation.

LaLiga president Javier Tebas echoed this sentiment earlier today when he said that, if the Argentine is to return to Catalonia, he will have to reduce his salary. The LaLiga chief also remarked that despite Barcelona needing to raise €200m to balance the books, he is convinced that they will bring in a 'good amount' of money via player sales this summer, which could enable them to re-sign their club legend.
