Lisandro Martinez’s transfer value has doubled since Man Utd move
Manchester United will not be selling Lisandro Martinez any time soon – but after a fine start to life at Old Trafford, he has seen his transfer valuation skyrocket.
When Man Utd signed Martinez for around €57 million in the summer, they were paying well in excess of FootballTransfers’ valuation of €34m.
An accomplished start to life at Man Utd under his old Ajax ally Erik ten Hag has seen his worth jump to €61m – nearly 10% more than his transfer fee.
Among the factors that are considered in this massive jump is the fact that Martinez has a long-term contract that runs until 2027, making it difficult for teams to prise him away from Old Trafford. On top of this, he has started to prove himself in a major league, having previously only turned out in his homeland for Defensa y Justicia and in the Eredivisie for Ajax.
This experience and his convincing early displays have seen his valuation significantly leap.
Lisandro impresses at Man Utd
It has not all been plain sailing for the 24-year-old in Manchester, though. He endured a couple of difficult matches at the start of the season against Brighton and Brentford, but since Raphael Varane has replaced Harry Maguire as his partner, the defence as a unit has looked altogether more assured.
Lisandro has played eight times for his new club and has helped them to four successive Premier League victories, including successive clean sheets against Southampton and Leicester away from home.
The signs are that Man Utd have gotten themselves a bargain with Lisandro, and they will be hopeful that Ten Hag’s other arrivals can ultimately have a similar impact to a man whose transfer value is set to rise and rise in the months ahead.
