'Not just Firmino' - Romano reveals other Liverpool stars heading for exit

Liverpool received the news on Friday that Roberto Firmino has decided to leave Anfield at the end of his contract - and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that there will be other players who will follow the Brazil international out the door.

Jurgen Klopp’s side find themselves in the midst of a transitional season as they struggle to qualify for the Champions League, while they also face an early exit in that competition having been routed 5-2 at home by Real Madrid.

The Anfield club, though, may just be at the start of a lengthy overhaul process with the news that Firmino has decided not to extend his contract with the club, which runs until June. He will, therefore, become a free agent at that point.

The Reds, meanwhile, are facing the prospect of losing additional players on free transfers, with Romano naming two more who are liable to find themselves heading out of Anfield in the months ahead.

Keita, Ox and Arthur on the way out

The transfer specialist reports: “There are currently no talks between Liverpool and Naby Keita over a new contract and he could be the next one to leave on a free transfer together with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.”

Keita’s departure would come as little surprise, with the former RB Leipzig star having failed to hit the heights expected of him since a high-profile move from the Bundesliga. He is reportedly being lined up as a successor for Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Romano has also provided an update on Arthur Melo, who is at Liverpool on loan from Juventus. He states that Klopp’s men are not planning to trigger the purchase option in the Brazilian’s deal.

This is no surprise given that the Anfield club had little intention of keeping the 26-year-old when the deal was brokered last August. Furthermore, Arthur has been restricted to just two first-team appearances because of injury, though he is now close to a first-team return.
