Romelu Lukaku is now Chelsea's BEST attacker this season
Romelu Lukaku’s two goals and an assist for Inter Milan at Empoli on Sunday mean that he now has more goal contributions this season than any player from parent club Chelsea.
This is an astonishing statistic when one considers that Lukaku has largely endured a dismal season back on loan at Inter.
On Sunday, Lukaku looked more like the player that two years ago was considered one of the best strikers in the world.

He broke the deadlock with a clinical right-foot finish into the bottom corner on 48 minutes before a brilliant stepover and rocket of a left foot shot to double the lead on 76 minutes. To cap off a perfect day, Lukaku assisted substitute Lautaro Martinez to secure a 3-0 win for Inter.
This took Lukaku to nine goals and three assists in all competitions for Inter this season.
Most will rightly point out that these numbers are not good enough for a striker playing for Inter on such huge wages.

How Lukaku compares to Chelsea players
However, astonishingly, Lukaku now has more goal contributions (12) than any player from parent club Chelsea.
So disastrous has Chelsea’s 2022-23 season been that their highest goal contributing players are Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling with just 10 goal contributions in all competitions.
Havertz has nine goals and one assist, while Sterling has seven goals and three assists.
Mason Mount is third for goal contributions with seven, despite his own horrendous campaign - three goals and four assists. With four assists, Mount has set up more goals than any Chelsea player.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has four goal contributions - three goals and one assist.
January loan signing has just two goal contributions - two goals and no assists.
The rest of Chelsea’s attackers have offered next to nothing; Christian Pulisic (three goal contributions), Mykhailo Mudryk (two), Hakim Ziyech (one), Armando Broja (one), Noni Madueke (zero) and David Datro Fofana (zero).
It is no surprise that Chelsea are down in 11th place in the Premier League and out of all cup competitions.
Lukaku returned to Inter on a one-season loan this past summer from Chelsea, but has struggled horribly with his fitness and form.
Inter Milan have already confirmed they will send Lukaku back to Chelsea at the end of the season.
