Al-Hilal have offered Romelu Lukaku an astronomical new salary offer in order to join the club.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku has been presented with a new salary package worth €40 million per season. The contract is likely to be for three years, which would mean Lukaku earning €120m in total on wages.

Until now, Lukaku has been adamant that he does not want to move to Saudi Arabia this summer but Al-Hilal are hopeful that the sheer money on offer can convince him to move to the Saudi Pro League.

In addition to that, according to Tuttosport, Al Hilal are prepared to pay Chelsea a fee of €58m. This is even higher than Chelsea’s €40m asking price.

It has been a dramatic few days for Lukaku, who will not be returning to Inter Milan next season.

Inter decided to pull out of negotiations with Chelsea after being angered by Lukaku’s decision to negotiate behind their back with rivals Juventus on Friday.

Juventus are now the favourites to sign Lukaku in a shock move, having already made a verbal proposal of €40m to Chelsea. This offer will become official once Juve manage to sell Dusan Vlahovic, with PSG expected to make a bid this week.

Personal terms between Lukaku and Juventus are not expected to be a problem.

However, Al-Hilal are not giving up the chase for the 30-year-old with a massive new offer.

Lukaku’s 2022-23 season?

Lukaku returned to Inter last summer on a one-year loan from Chelsea.

The 30-year-old has now returned to Stamford Bridge until he makes a permanent transfer this summer.

Lukaku finished the past season strongly and was in fantastic form after the March international break - scoring nine goals in April and May.

Lukaku came on as a substitute in Inter’s 1-0 defeat to Man City in the Champions League final in Istanbul. The ex-Man Utd striker missed a big chance to equalise in the closing minutes.
