'Premier League is my dream!': Osimhen puts Man Utd and Chelsea on RED ALERT

Victor Osimhen has admitted it is his dream to play in the Premier League amid speculation that the Napoli striker could be a top target for the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea this summer.

Osimhen is the second-highest scorer in Europe this season with 19 goals in 21 games as Napoli sit 15 points clear at the top of Serie A and the Nigerian is entering the final two years of his contract.

While Napoli are under no pressure to sell their star man, with the team looking to build on their impending title win, the Italian side’s resolve could be tested with bids in excess of €100 million in the summer.

Sitting next to Napoli president Aurelio Di Laurentiis, Osimhen insisted it was an ‘amazing feeling’ to be playing in ‘one of the best leagues in the world’ but the 24-year-old revealed his ambition was to eventually move to England.

He said: “A lot of people worldwide consider the Premier League as the best and the strongest league but now I’m in one of the best leagues in the world which is the Italian Serie A.

“I’m working so hard to make sure that I achieve my dream of playing in the Premier League some day but like I said, it’s a process and I just want to keep on this momentum and continue to do well.”

Napoli would like to keep hold of Osimhen and their other talisman in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but they may look to cash in on their top scorer given that he has yet to renew his deal which expires in 2025.

Osimhen is the club’s record signing and Napoli can make a strong profit on the player they paid €70m for in 2019 while also potentially eclipsing their biggest ever sale of €90m when Gonzalo Higauin joined Juventus in 2016.

Although Napoli would certainly like to continue with both players and look to build a dynasty as Italy’s strongest team, the Premier League money could be too hard to resist and, with Kvaratskhelia also likely to be a big departure down the line, Luciano Spalletti’s side could reinvest the Osimhen money into a long-term successor to the forward.

Man Utd are expected to push for Osimhen, with a striker top of their shopping list in the summer, although Chelsea are also desperate to sign a number nine and could offer more money than their Premier League rivals.

Ultimately however, Osimhen’s revelation indicates that he may struggle to turn down a summer approach from a Premier League side and it appears likely that a large enough bid could convince Napoli to part ways with the ex-Lille man.
