Arsenal in SHOCK talks to SELL star just seven months after buying him
Arsenal midfielder Jorginho could leave the club just seven months after joining following interest from Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce.
The Italian veteran signed for the Gunners from their London rivals Chelsea in January, but was unable to help them lift the Premier League trophy, despite leading at the time of his arrival.
Now, following the €116.6 million signing of West Ham’s Declan Rice, he has been linked with an exit from the Emirates Stadium.
Jorginho, 31, still has one year left on his deal at Arsenal, having signed an 18-month contract upon his arrival at the start of the 2023, but The Times, via Goal, have reported that he could be on his way out following interest from Fenerbahce.
The presence of Thomas Partey and the aforementioned Rice, plus forgotten man Albert Sambi Lokonga, means that Jorginho is unlikely to be given significant game time by Mikel Arteta this season, although his experience would be a big loss were he to leave.
Fenerbahce are said to be keen on landing the Italy international having finished second in the Super Lig last season, eight points behind champions Galatasaray.
The former Chelsea and Napoli midfielder missed Arsenal’s Community Shield victory over Manchester City due to a slightly muscular problem.
He made nine Premier League starts in the back-end of last season after joining in January, but played mostly as second fiddle to Partey.
Jorginho to Fenerbahce?
Fenerbahce have made 11 signings so far this summer, with the free transfer acquisitions of Dusan Tadic from Ajax and Edin Dzeko from Inter Milan the most high-profile names to join the club.
Their most expensive signing of the summer is their €9.75m purchase of Sebastian Szymasnski from Dynamo Moscow.
They have, however, lost talented young midfielder Arda Guler to Real Madrid (€20m) and promising centre-back Attila Szalai to Hoffenheim (€12.3m).
