Chelsea star N’Golo Kante is said to have been “blown away” by the incredible contract offer he has been given by Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.

Kante’s future has been in the air for months, with the France international having found a sticking point with the Blues over their unwillingness to offer him a multi-year contract with Todd Boehly’s club. On top of this, he has struggled with injury problems and has played just nine times for the Stamford Bridge side this season.

With no deal in place, the former Leicester star is set to become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Although there had been an increasing tendency for the 32-year-old to sign a new deal with Chelsea, there has been a late reversal in the situation and it now appears that Kante will be leaving the club having been given an exorbitant offer from Al-Ittihad.

Ben Jacobs reports that Kante was “blown away”, having been presented with a total package worth €100 million per year.

He is expected to agree to the terms and sign for the Saudi Pro League side before the end of the week.

Kante to join Benzema and Ronaldo in Saudi Pro League

Kante might have joined Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr – where Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha appears to be heading – but according to Jacobs, the Saudis behind the transfer feel that he will be better in Jeddah.

Al-Itthad have already confirmed the arrival of Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, with the Ballon d’Or winner the first major star to commit his future to the Saudi Pro League this summer following the unexpected arrival of Ronaldo, who signed for Al-Nassr in December.

Meanwhile, there is lingering doubt over the possibility of Lionel Messi moving to Al-Hilal, with Barcelona and Inter Miami both stepping up their bids for the PSG superstar.
