Liverpool signing suffering from Gerrard problem, says club legend
Liverpool great Phil Thompson claims that one of the Reds’ summer signings could be suffering from the same type of problems that once tested Steven Gerrard at Anfield.
The Anfield club signed Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen last summer for around €5 million but the youngster has struggled with injury in his debut campaign at the club, despite the 19-year-old showing some promise in the fleeting appearances he has made.
The teenager has been missing since February following knee surgery, and Thomson says that the problems he is suffering re reminiscent of a young Gerrard.

“It has been difficult for Calvin because he has had lots of injuries,” he said in quotes relayed by The National. “We are waiting to see a bit more of Calvin. He is probably just growing. But I can remember a young Steven Gerrard having the same sort of problems and he did alright.”
Gerrard went on to win two FA Cup and the 2004/05 Champions League, becoming an iconic figure at the club in the process.

Thomson hails ‘outstanding’ Doak
Thompson also spoke of Ben Doak, who is regarded as one of Liverpool’s most promising young players.
“Oh my goodness! What a player! I have done quite a few of the youth games for LFC TV and every time I have seen him he has been outstanding,” he said.
“One of the great things about Ben is that he just loves football. He has got a wonderful attitude. But he is aggressive and for a forward that is a great attribute to have. He has also got unbelievable pace, he can provide assists and he has got goals in him.
“You just look at him and think: ‘Wow!’ He has had such a rapid rise to fame this season. He has played in the first team this season, which is quite astonishing. I just hope he has got a nice feel for it because he is a tremendous talent.”
