‘Casemiro wipes the floor with Thomas Partey’
Manchester United star Casemiro “wipes the floor” with Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, according to Rio Ferdinand.
Both Casemiro and Partey have been in brilliant form this season for their respective clubs and there has naturally been a great deal of debate over who is the better player.
Former Man Utd man Ferdinand has praised both midfielders, but he believes that Casemiro is on another planet defensively to the Arsenal star.
What did Ferdinand say about Casemiro and Partey?
“He [Partey] is actually playing some passes I didn’t know he had,” the former defender said on his VIBE with FIVE podcast.
“At Atletico Madrid did you see those passes? In the Champions League?
“On the ball he is doing more than Casemiro. He’s dictating play for Arsenal, controlling tempos.’
“In terms of who’s more important to their team, you can argue for both sides. But when you throw the stats in, Casemiro wipes the floor with him.
“I don’t think Partey is good enough defensively to do what Casemiro is doing. I don’t think he has the impact to do defensively what Casemiro is doing for Man United.”
Casemiro was arguably Man Utd’s signature move of the summer market, as they splashed out over €70 million for the legendary midfielder from Real Madrid.
The transfer came as something of a surprise given the fact that the Brazilian had played a pivotal role in Madrid being the most dominant side in Europe for the best part of a decade.
The Brazilian has helped transform United and they are now not only looking certain for a top-four finish but could yet have their say in the title race.
That’s if Arsenal are to slip up as Partey has played a pivotal role in the Gunners going eight points clear at the top of the table.
Together with Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard, Partey has formed a dominant Arsenal midfield that could lead the team to their first Premier League trophy in 19 years.
