Man Utd fear shock Casemiro exit

Casemiro has impressed since joining Manchester United from Real Madrid last summer, but there is growing interest in the Brazilian's services one short season later.

Some eyebrows were raised when United paid Real nearly €80 million for Casemiro last August.

A Brazil international with five Champions Leagues to his name, Casemiro nonetheless turned 31 in February, and there were doubts the Red Devils would see a return on investment, either on or off the pitch.

But he has silenced his doubters, bossing United's midfield with 125 duels won in the Premier League so far, whilst also contributing five goals and six assists in all competitions.

And now trusted sources in Germany suggest that Bayern Munich are ready to make a move for the veteran, who has fast become a fan favourite at Old Trafford.

'Tuchel likes Casemiro'

"There is a threat of upheaval at Bayern," report Kicker, with Bayern second in the Bundesliga having recent sacked Julian Nagelsmann.

"New head coach Thomas Tuchel wants to sign a defensive midfielder. According to Kicker information, he likes Casemiro of Manchester United. Tuchel is impressed by the veteran's skills.

"If the Brazilian is not available, a player like the 31-year-old should at least be signed; a defensive-minded No.6 who really wants to be clear danger. This would also free up Joshua Kimmich, who is considered more of a No.8 internally at Bayern."

Casemiro is under contract until 30 June 20206 at Old Trafford, with an option for another year if both sides agree.

United are under no pressure to sell, whether Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the Glazer family or some combination of the above own the club by next summer.

Bayern would likely have to smash the €58.3m Casemiro is now rated at by FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm for United to turn their attention towards such an idea.
