Man Utd takeover: 'Real concern' over Glazers' next move

There is now ‘real concern’ that the Glazers will not sell Manchester United despite the extensive process in which numerous groups and consortiums have gone through rounds of bids to obtain the Premier League side.

Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani is still awaiting a response from the Glazer family to his submission to buy Manchester United.

Among the frontrunners were, Sheikh Jassim and the Ineos Group, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who had submitted offers upwards of £5billion in May.

But now MEN have reported that there are huge doubts over whether a takeover will take place, with the unpopular Glazer family remaining in control.

There have always been murmurs that the American owners are reluctant to sell and that there is a divide in the family over what the best cause of action is.

Glazers divided

Joel and Avram Glazer, the club’s co-chairmen, are thought to be among the ones who wish to remain. The Glazers effectively put the club up for sale nine months ago and even invited bids, but no compromise has been found between the buyers and the owners.

Perhaps more pressingly, it’s been reported that some of those connected to the Raine Group, the investment banking firm hired to oversee the takeover, believe they have been trying to sell the club when it’s not really up for sale; there is a lot of confusion around the entire ordeal, either from those at the club or within the financial sector and with each passing week, it becomes more unlikely that Man Utd will be changing hands from the Glazer family who have presided over the side for 18 years.

As FootballTransfers revealed, Erik ten Hag missed out on some £60m as a result of the debt not being cleared and the Glazer family refusing to invest their own money into the market to help the Dutchman.
