Mourinho wants SURPRISE reunion with Man Utd flop
Jose Mourinho is eyeing a surprise reunion with Manchester United midfielder Fred, according to a report.
The Portuguese coach looks to head into his third season with Roma despite speculation that he does not see eye to eye with the club's owners. There were rumours that he would leave his contract at the Stadio Olimpico this summer, but at this point, it seems unlikely that he will depart.
With preparations for the new campaign in full swing, the Europa League finalists are keen to bolster their squad in order to be able to compete in Europe again next season, perhaps also with an eye to finally mounting a credible Serie A title challenge for the first time since 2010. That year, they finished two points behind Mourinho's Inter.

This means that Roma are trying to land some big hits in the transfer market. They have already been linked with a move for West Ham's Gianluca Scamacca and now it seems that they are also targeting another Manchester United player to team up with Chris Smalling and Nemanja Matic in Italy's capital.
Mourinho wants Fred
The Sun claims that Mourinho is keen on reuniting with Fred, apparently having changed his opinion on the Brazilian. Back in 2018, the Portuguese is said to have not been particularly impressed by Fred and the €59m transfer was essentially completed against his will.
Mourinho then proceeded to rarely use the player, allegedly even telling him after a Champions League loss to Valencia that his Manchester United career was over, an incident that left the Red Devils squad bemused.

With United bringing in Mason Mount and, as we have exclusively reported, being keen on another midfielder, Fred's days as a United player are indeed - belatedly - numbered. The 30-year-old has an Estimated Transfer Value of €19.1 million and has also been linked with a potential Fulham switch.
