Solskjaer downplays the need for Man United transfers in January
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has downplayed his club’s chances of making any major deals in the coming January transfer window.
The Premier League side spent a considerable sum of money in the summer transfer window, signing Donny van de Beek, Amad Diallo, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri for at least £75 million, while also bringing Edinson Cavani to the club on a free transfer.
Despite a huge amount of investment Solskjaer has struggled to put together a squad capable of consistent performances, with just four wins from Man Utd’s first eight Premier League games.
However, the Norwegian manager believes he has all the talent he needs within his current squad and is far more interested in finding a winning formation or starting XI before he resorts to bringing more players to Old Trafford.

“It’s hard to predict how the situation will be in January,” Solskjaer told the press on Friday afternoon.
“I don’t predict a lot of ins and outs. I’m very happy with my squad and it is getting stronger. I’m having issues every week about who to leave out.”
Indeed, of the aforementioned signings United made in the summer, only Van de Beek has been offered considerable game time under Solskjaer and even then the Dutch midfielder has only just begun to show any signs of settling into his new squad.
Following a tepid start to last season’s Premier League campaign, United did dip into the January transfer window and spent a sizable sum of money bringing Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes to the club.
A deal that was made all the more impressive when we consider that the club had previously spent around £140 million on signings in the previous summer window too.
However, it seems as though the Premier League side are determined to make do with the expensive signings they’ve already made, rather than splash the cash once again in the coming January window.
