Tottenham have been given a boost in the race to sign Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic as rivals Arsenal are struggling to deal with the player's agent.

The young forward scored 21 goals in Serie A last season, earning interest from a host of Europe's top clubs.

He has followed that up with 10 goals in 13 appearances in all competitions this campaign, meaning his days with La Viola are numbered.

At this moment, the race to sign Vlahovic is thought to be between three teams: Arsenal, Spurs and Juventus.

And as Juve are probably the most attractive destination, given he could remain in Italy and enjoy Champions League football, the two north London clubs are looking to make a quick move.

However, getting high profile deals over the line in the January transfer window is notoriously difficult.

Tottenham vs Arsenal

Arsenal have made an early approach for Vlahovic, with Fiorentina setting an asking price of £68.3million (€80m).

As such, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio believes any potential deal for the 21-year-old will have to wait until the summer of 2022.

"In January, it is an impossible operation because Fiorentina are asking for €80m'' he told Sky.

"In June [2022], Juventus are in the running as well as many teams. The team most interested in Vlahovic for January is Arsenal.

"The English club has established a dialogue more than positive with Fiorentina and would be willing to satisfy the requests of the Viola club to reach an agreement.''

However, the biggest stumbling block in the way of the Gunners landing their man could be the player's agent who is reportedly ignoring their calls.

As a result, Antonio Conte's Spurs could look to capitalise on Vlahovic's seemingly low interest in taking his talents to the Emirates Stadium with a January swoop of their own.

The 2016-17 Premier League-winning manager, with Chelsea, might just be the deciding factor in what half of north London has the biggest draw.

Spurs are looking to find a replacement for Harry Kane who looks out of sorts after a failed move to Manchester City last summer, and there are few better options out there.
