Neville is currently manager of the England women’s team, but will step down when his contract runs out in July. He had been in line to take charge of Great Britain’s women’s team for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo, but there is now doubts over that appointment due to the links with Miami.

  • When Beckham signed with LA Galaxy in 2007, within his contract was the option to purchase a MLS expansion side for £25m which he eventually took up in 2014 to create Inter Miami.

After several delays, the club finally made its MLS debut in March of 2020 when they lost 1-0 to Los Angeles FC.

In their inaugural season. Inter Miami finished 10th in the Eastern Conference before going on to lose in the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs to fellow expansion side, Nashville.

Uruguayan Diego Alonso is currently in charge of the side, but with expectations not met in the first campaign, Beckham and club bosses are looking at alternatives.

Neville has been at the helm England Women since January of 2018 and has enjoyed success in the role, guiding them to the semi-final of the World Cup in 2019.

At the tournament in France, they were knocked out by the United States before eventually finishing fourth after losing the third-place playoff versus Sweden.

Beckham and Neville have been friends since their playing days at Man Utd and are both co-owners of League Two side Salford City.

Neville previously acted as a coach for Man Utd and Valencia before moving into management.

At the moment, Inter Miami currently have stars like Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi in their ranks, with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos also recently linked with a move to the MLS side.
