Donnarumma is only 21 but is already regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, having amassed over 200 appearances for Milan since debuting at the age of 16.

The giant shot-stopper’s contract at San Siro will expire at the end of the season, leading to interest from a number of Europe’s biggest clubs such as Paris-Saint Germain, Chelsea and Inter.

And Casillas believes that Donnarumma should leave Milan.

  • “In my opinion Donnarumma should play for a club with more tradition”, the Real Madrid legend tweeted, before clarifying: “My mistake, Milan have a great tradition. I mean that he should go to a club that is currently more prestigious internationally.”

Casillas’ comments have angered Milan supporters, with many taking to social media to criticise the multiple-Champions League winner.

Nevertheless, FootballTransfers understands that Donnarumma is set to stay at Milan and sign a new, long-term contract at the club.

Both PSG and Chelsea have registered their interest, while Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta contacted Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola for information. However, Donnarumma has made it clear that he is not interested in leaving.
