Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that Juventus are interested in signing David Alaba on a free transfer.

Alaba will leave Bayern on a Bosman at the end of the current season after 13 hugely successful years, having decided not to renew his contract.

The utility player is wanted by a number of top European clubs – including Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and PSG – but the consensus among many top journalists is that he has already agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

However, Rummenigge has continually insisted that nothing is decided yet and says that Juventus are also interested in the Austrian’s signature.

“Juventus are interested in Alaba, just like other top clubs? This is normal,” Rummenigge said.

“The best European clubs are working to sign him, but it’s up to him to decide.”

Despite Rummenigge’s assertions, a move to Juventus seems highly unlikely for Alaba this summer.

The Bianconeri have identified former midfield star Paul Pogba as their number one transfer target, an operation that is very difficult to do because of the finances involved.

If a transfer for Pogba – whose own contract expires in 2022 – is not doable then Juventus are likely to go all-in for Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli.

Juve’s midfield has been a problem area for them this season, as demonstrated during their disappointing defeat to Porto in the Champions League in midweek.
