Man Utd transfer news: Could Bayern sign Norwich defender Aarons?
Bayern Munich may be preparing to bolster their defensive options next season with the signing of Norwich right-back Max Aarons.
According to Sky Sports, the Bundesliga giants have been tracking Aarons’ performances in the English Championship for the past two months and remain committed to trying to sign him in the summer.
However, Norwich will reportedly hold out for a high price since Aarons has a contract with the club until 2024.
The Championship club will apparently demand £30-35 million for the talents of a player that have not only attracted the interest of Bayern but also Manchester United too.
At the moment Bayern have two traditional right-backs in the form of Benjamin Pavard and Bouna Sarr, with Joshua Kimmich and Niklas Sule filling in for Hansi Flick’s side when necessary this season.
However, neither Pavard nor Sarr have looked entirely impressive this season – particularly the latter – and as such it seems as though Bayern have are intent on upgrading their options in the position next season.
With that in mind, it would then make sense for Bayern to try and sign Aarons and add him to their list of right-backs for next season. However, the that potential price tag may be a notable stumbling block for the German club.
Bayern have already agreed to fork over the best part of £40 million for RB Leipzig central defender Dayot Upamecano in the summer, with reports in Germany suggesting that they also plan to pick up Reading left-back Omar Richards on a pre-contract too, as well as a high-profile midfielder like Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus.
As such, it seems unlikely that Bayern would be willing to blow a significant portion of their budget on a right-back that may not even be guaranteed a starting role in Flick’s side next season.
