Man Utd won’t find better than ‘quality’ Daniel James – Gary Neville
Despite Daniel James’ disappointing performance in Manchester United’s bore-draw against Chelsea on Sunday, Gary Neville believes the winger should stay at the club.
James was a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season after arriving from Swansea City but he has struggled for minutes at times this campaign.
This led to the 23-year-old being linked with a January transfer, particularly to Leeds United, although a move never materialised.
However, the Welshman has found his way back into the starting line-up in recent weeks, impressing in the Europa League.
And he started Man Utd’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, although he produced a disappointing performance.
Nevertheless, former Man Utd defender Neville believes that James has a role to play in the club’s future.
“I think Dan James should stay at Manchester United for Manchester United’s purposes,” he told Sky Sports.
“Is he a player you’d want to start every week? No, but you do need players of that quality to come in off the bench, who can cause a problem for other teams.
“He’s quick, he does get a goal on occasion, he’d be a sort of fifth or sixth forward which is good for Manchester United.
“I think they’d do well to find better, obviously that top three of (Edinson) Cavani, (Mason) Greenwood and (Marcus) Rashford would start.”
