Arsenal transfer news: Hakimi’s agent hints at Inter exit

The agent of Arsenal and Chelsea transfer target Achraf Hakimi has stated that his client is happy at Inter but will have to see “what the future holds” for his client in the summer. 

Hakimi only joined Inter last summer when he made the move from Real Madrid for a reported £36 million. 

However, despite signing a five-year contract with the Serie A giants, Hakimi’s future has been put into doubt due to the financial situation at the club. 

Inter currently find themselves in financial trouble after their Chinese owners decided they would try to find an outright buyer for the club or sell a significant portion of their shares later this year. 

As such, it remains to be seen what kind of budget and ambition the club will have going forward, despite currently sitting top of the Italian top flight. 

Therefore, while Hakimi’s agent is happy to state that the full-back is enjoying life at Inter at the moment, he is also willing to admit that things could quickly change.

“As of today, he is very happy to play for such an important club,” Hakimi’s agent, Alejandro Camano, told Calciomercato.

“I don’t know what the future holds, but I say today that Hakimi is happy and his team is Inter.

“The objective is to win the Scudetto. After that, Inter’s situation at the club level is complicated, but I repeat: we are very happy here in football terms.

“He has a five-year contract, we signed because we were so confident of Inter’s project. We’ll see what happens in future, but this is a very important step in his career.

“We certainly don’t intend on leaving the team in such a delicate situation.”

Could Hakimi move to Chelsea or Arsenal? 

Following impressive stints at Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and now Inter, there’s little doubt that Hakimi would make an excellent signing for most Premier League clubs this summer. 

Indeed, the Morocco international could also prove to be an important signing for Arsenal, if the club are set to sell Hector Bellerin this summer and would be looking for an upgrade in the right-back position. 

Contrastingly, Chelsea already have established stars in the form of Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta in that position and would be unlikely to fork out for another right-back in the summer window.
