Man Utd transfer news: Is Sabitzer heading towards a summer move?
Manchester United transfer target Marcel Sabitzer could be edging towards the exit door at RB Leipzig this summer.
According to a report in Bild, the Austria international has no interest in renewing his contract with the club and is instead pushing for a move to the Premier League this summer.
Sabitzer’s current contract with the Bundesliga club is set to expire in the summer of 2022, which would mean RB Leipzig will need to sell him this summer or risk losing him for free at the end of the following season.
Alongside Manchester United, Bild believes the 27-year-old midfielder has also attracted the interest of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. So could he really be set to make the move to England this summer?
Could Sabitzer join Man Utd this summer?
Although RB Leipzig will do all they can to keep their cherished midfielder, it does seem as though things are falling into place for Man Utd to sign Sabitzer this summer.
According to the report in Bild, the Bundesliga side would still demand upwards of €42 million for the Austrian’s signature but that’s most likely a starting point and could be negotiated down. Especially if the current pandemic deflates transfer fees across the market.

Of course, Sabitzer would still cost Man Utd a fair amount of money but he would certainly be worth it. Unlike previous midfield signings, Sabitzer is a true box-to-box talent and would not only combine well with Bruno Fernandes but could also potentially prove to be an astute replacement for Paul Pogba.
The question that then arises is whether the Old Trafford side would be willing to fork over the necessary cash for Sabitzer and whether Premier League rivals Tottenham or Liverpool may end up beating the club to the Austrian’s signature.
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see. But this is a story that will undoubtedly continue to build up momentum as we head towards the summer transfer window.
