Ryan Mason denies reports that Harry Kane wants to leave Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur interim boss Ryan Mason has denied reports that Harry Kane has asked to leave the club this summer.

Kane, 27, is believed to want a change this summer after Spurs missed out on the Champions League and lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City.

Having come through the youth ranks and played with Mason, it will be difficult for fans to accept his decision. But Mason says he has not been told anything about Kane’s future and that both of their focus’ remain on the game with Aston Villa. The two remain close friends and speak daily.

“No, not that I’m aware of. Like I say, all this speculation I’m not sure. All of my conversations I’ve had with H have been about the game the other day and also preparing for the game tomorrow. So no, I don’t know,” he told reporters when asked whether Kane had said anything about a transfer.

Mason also claims that too many things are “up in the air” right now, including who will be the permanent successor to Jose Mourinho, and that means he cannot comment on what is next for Kane.

“In terms of speculation, I can’t really have a comment on it because it’s all hypothetical and we don’t know the outcome of many things, management, players so I can’t answer questions on that.”

Where could Kane go?

There are plenty of interested parties and with Kane likely to want to stay in the Premier League, the gossip could rumble on.

Manchester City and Manchester United have both been linked, with a striker potentially on both their priority lists. Chelsea are also said to be in the frame for his signature, but a deal is much less likely because of their history with Spurs.

Kane, as a key player for the club and product of their youth academy, is unlikely to want to rock the boat. A long summer could lay in wait for all parties.
