David Luiz, Walcott and every player on the Premier League released list 2020/21

David Luiz, Theo Walcott and Danny Rose are among the players to have found themselves released by Premier League clubs over recent days.

With Covid-19 crunching the finances of clubs, cost-cutting measures are in place all over England’s top flight and one of the easiest ways of doing this is to cut the wage bill.

The transfer market, however, is likely to be deflated over the course of the summer, meaning that teams cannot rely on offloading lots of players by selling them.

As such, it is star names at the end of their contracts who have become vulnerable to departing. Players who might have been seen as a worthwhile gamble in a more buoyant market, in which they would have a higher sell-on value, are those liable to being cut.

Here is a complete list of the players who will not have their contracts renewed for the start of the season. Those with a * beside their name are strongly expected to be released, but this has not been confirmed by their clubs.
