Aaron Ramsey has been urged to stay at Juventus amid speculation linking him with a move away from Serie A.

The Wales international’s former side Arsenal have been among the teams linked with the midfielder, along with other Premier League clubs.

Ramsey joined Juve on a lucrative four-year contract in 2019 and, now halfway through that deal, it is fair to say he has not made the desired impact.

The 30-year-old has only started 24 Serie A matches over his two seasons in Italy.

But emerging Juventus star Federico Chiesa has been hugely impressed with the midfielder on and off the pitch, saying injuries have not helped his team-mate.

Ramsey is by no means an ordinary player, he's a very intelligent footballer.

Juve are in a difficult financial position amid the coronavirus pandemic and are reshaping their squad after head coach Massimiliano Allegri returned to replace Andrea Pirlo following a poor 2020/21 season.

But Chiesa suggested it would be a shame to see Ramsey leave at this point of his career at the club.

“Aaron’s a great friend of mine and absolutely a great player,” Chiesa said.

“He’s clever, technically strong and I appreciate him very much at Juventus.

“He had different injuries so he could not could not help the team as much as he wanted, but he is always competitive and has more to offer.

“He's also by no means an ordinary player, he's a very intelligent footballer.

“I've enjoyed watching him in training and during matches in the past year."

Ramsey v Chiesa at Euro 2020

Club team-mates Ramsey and Chiesa have been named in the starting XI for their respective nations as Italy do battle with Wales at Euro 2020 on Sunday.

Italy are already through to the last 16 after registering six points from two games and Wales also look likely to progress as they are sitting second on four points in Group A.

Ramsey has started the two previous matches for Wales at the tournament and scored in the 2-0 victory over Turkey.
