Koeman crisis goes from bad to worse with key injuries
The crisis at Barcelona goes from bad to worse for Ronald Koeman as he loses two key players to injury.
According to Mundo Deportivo, both Pedri and Jordi Alba sustained injuries during Tuesday’s Champions League match with Bayern Munich.
Jordi Alba suffered a thigh injury and had to be substituted before the end of the game. He is expected to be out for a month.
Pedri picked up a muscle injury in his left leg despite completing the full 90 minutes. It is believed he will be out for between 10 and 15 days.
Will Koeman be sacked?
This is the last thing Koeman needed given the pressure he is under right now.
Barcelona have been engulfed in a crisis both on and off the pitch this year, and things reached a new low on Tuesday evening when they were thrashed 3-0 at home by Bayern Munich.
Barcelona did not register a single shot on goal in the game in what was a truly dismal showing.
The result and performance has led for new calls for coach Koeman to be sacked, with some sections of the Spanish media reporting that he has three games to save his job.
Koeman was close to being dismissed at the end of last season but managed survive into the new campaign.
Barcelona finished third in La Liga and were eliminated in the last 16 of the Champions League in his first season, although they did win the Copa del Rey.
They also endured a difficult summer as they lost legend Lionel Messi on a free transfer to PSG as they were unable to afford to register his new contract.
Barcelona are estimated to be more than €1.3 billion in debt and have been attempting to cut costs this year.
