‘Best player in the world’ – Mbappe sends fans wild with Madrid magic

Kylian Mbappe sent football fans wild on social media after another brilliant goal for PSG against Real Madrid.

All the talk ahead of the tie of the round in the Champions League last-16 revolved around Mbappe, who is almost certain to join Madrid on a Bosman transfer at the end of the season.

The Frenchman proved the difference in the first leg in Paris just over three weeks ago with a fantastic injury-time winner to give PSG a crucial 1-0 win.

And Mbappe again proved to be the scourge of his likely future employers on Wednesday as he ran rings around the Madrid defenders in the Santiago Bernabeu.

After a bright start from the hosts, PSG slowly took over and there was no surprise that Mbappe was the main danger man.

He was denied twice by Thibaut Courtois in the first quarter before he had a goal disallowed on 33 minutes after Nuno Mendes was ruled offside.

But that proved to only be a temporary reprieve for Madrid as five minutes later Mbappe broke the deadlock on the night.

He ran onto Neymar’s through pass from his own half with devastating pace before opening up his body and lashing the ball in the near post past Courtois.

Unsurprisingly, social media users could not contain their excitement.

PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino said before the game that Lionel Messi was the best player in the world but, after seeing Mbappe’s opener, many fans had no doubt at all that the Frenchman is number one.
