Why Real Madrid are sending Kane to Man Utd
Real Madrid’s pursuit of Erling Haaland is likely to have a domino effect which will result in Manchester United going all-out for Harry Kane.
Man Utd’s main priority this summer is to sign a top-class centre forward.

Cristiano Ronaldo has provided a good goal return after re-joining Man Utd last summer from Juventus – and he provided another timely reminder of his class with a hattrick against Tottenham on Saturday.
But Ronaldo has recently turned 37 and United need to look to the future for a younger striker.
The veteran himself is also expected to leave the club if United don’t qualify for the Champions League, which currently looks a tough ask.
United initially had placed Erling Haaland as their favoured choice to replace Ronaldo but, according to most media, they are well behind favourites Real Madrid, Man City and Barcelona in the chase for the Borussia Dortmund star.
Indeed, according to the Daily Mirror, Madrid are expected to complete a deal for Haaland in an incredible summer which will see both the Norwegian and fellow superstar Kylian Mbappe both arrive.
Will Kane leave Tottenham this summer?
The failure to sign Haaland will result in Man Utd going all-out for Spurs hitman Kane.
Kane was close to leaving Spurs last summer. Manchester City were very public in their desire to sign him in a €100 million-plus deal and it was a transfer that the striker was desperate to make.
However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would not sell, even reportedly refusing to pick up the phone to hear Man City’s offer.
This led to the attacker allegedly not turning up for training for the best part of a week, although the Euro 2020 star denies he refused to train.
Kane eventually stayed and, after a slow start to the season, he has been reborn since Antonio Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as manager.
But it is understood that he would still consider a move away from Tottenham this summer – despite how much he is enjoying playing under Conte.
His contract at Tottenham expires in 2024 and Levy may be more willing to do business this summer given his value will plummet next year when Kane also turns 30.
Man Utd also can increase his salary and offer Kane more chance of winning a major trophy – despite their recent struggles.
Kane has still not won a single trophy in his career and is desperate to do so given he has been one of the best strikers of his generation.
