Liverpool have been fairly quiet in consecutive transfer windows, with Ibrahima Konate, signed from RB Leipzig, their only arrival last summer, and just Luis Diaz, from Porto, signing in January.

So, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp may be tempted to dip into the transfer market more excessively this summer.

But, who could Liverpool target in the next window?

What goalkeepers could transfer to Liverpool this summer?

Liverpool are fortunate to have one of the best goalkeeper lineups in world football.

Alisson Becker is competing with the likes of Ederson, Edouard Mendy and Thibaut Courtois for the number one spot.

Meanwhile, Coaimhin Kelleher has proven to be an excellent backup, playing well on the few occasions he has been called upon this season.

As such, Liverpool are not expected to sign a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.

What defenders could transfer to Liverpool this summer?

Calvin Ramsay

Liverpool are on the verge of signing young Scottish right-back Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen.

Aberdeen star Calvin Ramsay has become one of Scottish football’s most highly regarded young players over the past season, with the right-back attracting attention from myriad of clubs in the Premier League and abroad.

With Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney having impressed in the Premier League and Nathan Patterson departing Rangers for Everton in January 2022, Ramsay is poised to be the next young Scottish defender to potentially make the grade.

Josko Gvardiol

Josko Gvardiol only signed for RB Leipzig last summer, as a replacement for Ibrahima Konate, but the Croatian has already established himself as one of the best young centre-backs in Europe.

Having made 46 appearances in all competitions in his debut season in Germany, many a Champions League contender are now interested in his services.

Plus, given the success of Konate, in his limited gametime, the Reds could be keen on signing another quality defender from Leipzig.

What midfielders could transfer to Liverpool this summer?

Christopher Nkunku

In Nkunku's first season at RB Leipzig, the French winger picked up an impressive five goals and 16 assists for Julian Nagelsmann’s side despite playing in a number of positions in midfield and attack.

In the following season, he was played more centrally as a No.10 and still contributed a lot to RB Leipzig’s push for a title challenge, by picking up seven goals and 11 assists.

However, this season has seen the France international really step up a gear for the Saxony side, with a remarkable 35 goals and 16 assists in just 48 games across all competitions.

This versatility could be incredibly enticing to Klopp, who may let Roberto Firmino leave in the summer.

Renato Sanches

After an impressive Euro 2020 campaign despite Portugal’s overall struggles, there has been an air of inevitability about Renato Sanches departing Lille.

With Liverpool and Arsenal linked and the player himself not shy in saying he could be on the way out, a summer transfer is beginning to appear more and more likely.

Added to that the fact that his contract expires at the end of June 2023, Sanches will be available for a reasonable price and is ready to compete for a top team. However, Milan are in the lead in the race to sign Sanches.

Florian Neuhaus

Liverpool and Bayern have been engaged in a battle to sign Florian Neuhaus over the last 12 months, and this summer could be the time for Liverpool to pounce.

Neuhaus has failed to commit to Borussia Monchengladbach, and his contract only has two years left to run, meaning the transfer fee required to sign him might not be so large.

The 25-year-old has earned consistent minutes in the Germany side and has solidified his position as one of the top midfielders in the Bundesliga, making him a prime candidate to strengthen Liverpool’s midfield.

Jude Bellingham

Despite only being 18 years of age, there’s little doubt that Bellingham has already established himself as one of the Borussia Dortmund’s most important players.

The England international grabbed six goals and 14 assists for the Bundesliga side this past season.

When we combine that with the fact that Bellingham is a proper No.8 and therefore defends as well as he creates goals, it just goes to show that he’s already thriving in Dortmund’s midfield and would be an excellent addition to the Liverpool squad.

Kalvin Phillips

Another English midfielder that Liverpool are looking at is Leeds star Kalvin Phillips.

Jurgen Klopp is ready to rival both Manchester clubs for the signature of the England international.

Liverpool are looking for a hard-working, all-action midfielder and Phillips fits the bill perfectly as Jordan Henderson begins to age.

However, Phillips' injury record is a concern after a season full of problems.

What forwards could transfer to Liverpool this summer?

Darwin Nunez

Darwin Nunez has decided that he wants to make a transfer from Benfica to Liverpool this summer, FootballTransfers can confirm.

A host of leading European clubs have been chasing the Uruguay international for many months, but it had become evident in recent weeks that he had his heart set on a move to the Premier League.

Manchester United and Newcastle were the two major rivals to Liverpool over his signing, but it appears that the Reds have won the day to add the 22-year-old to their ranks.

Nunez enjoyed a stunning 2021-22 season for Benfica, scoring 34 goals in 41 games.

Arnaut Danjuma

Villarreal had one of the stories of the season in the Champions League, reaching the semi-final before falling to Liverpool, and part of that run was Arnaut Danjuma.

The Dutchman only signed for Villarreal last summer in a €23.5 million deal and put in some fine performances, including one at Old Trafford against Manchester United and then against Bayern Munich.

And, according to reports, Liverpool are one of the teams considering a bid for Danjuma this summer.

Ousmane Dembele

Given the depth of Liverpool’s squad, they would be in a better position to manage Dembele's injuries and to ensure that they can get the best from him on a regular basis.

The issue of cost is not such a great one for Klopp's side either. Signing him on a free transfer is a low-risk option, even if he were to flop at Anfield.

Indeed, he is valued at €21m by FootballTransfers’ algorithm, which makes signing him on a free transfer an excellent piece of business.
