Reports in the Netherlands on Sunday claim that Erik ten Hag’s departure from Ajax to Manchester United at the end of the season is not a foregone conclusion.

AD claims that RB Leipzig are also in the race to sign the highly-rated Ajax manager and contacted his entourage earlier this month to begin talks.

Leipzig axed Jesse Marsch in December and replaced him with Domenico Tedesco, who has a contract until 2023.

AD reports that Ten Hag’s move to Man Utd is not certain to go through because there are disagreements over some contractual issues, whilst the manager himself wants to clarify how much power and influence he will have at Old Trafford.

However, FootballTransfers understands that Leipzig are, as sources told us Leipzig are “more than happy” with the job that Tedesco is doing at the club.

There are no plans to replace him with Ten Hag and indeed it is very possible that Tedesco’s contract will be extended at the end of the season.

Tedesco has led Leipzig to an 11-game unbeaten run in all competitions and they have now recovered to enter the top four of the Bundesliga.

Leipzig are also still in the Europa League, although they face a tough second leg of their quarter-final after drawing 1-1 at home to Atalanta earlier this week.

Ten Hag is the red-hot favourite to succeed Ralf Rangnick and become Manchester United’s permanent manager for next season.

We understand that the 52-year-old has held positive talks with Man Utd and he is expected to be announced as the club’s next manager in the coming weeks.

The other main contender for the job is PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino.
