Madrid & Bayern battle to sign Man City prodigy Pedro Porro
Sporting Libson will sign Manchester City defender Pedro Porro in the coming weeks, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich among the clubs then hoping to immediately purchase the Spaniard.
FootballTransfers understands that Sporting will soon make Porro’s loan move from Man City permanent by activating an €8 million option-to-buy.
Sporting then plan to immediately sell the 22-year-old right wing-back at a higher price to one of Europe's elite sides.
In addition to Real Madrid and Bayern, Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the youngster, but FootballTransfers understands the Blaugrana are prioritising other transfers first before making any move for the highly-rated player.
Madrid are in the market for a right-back this summer as they want a young prodigy to add competition to the spot currently filled by Dani Carvajal.
Bayern, meanwhile, are continuing their hunt for someone to rival Benjamin Pavard when they do utilise the 4-2-3-1 formation - with Bouna Sarr linked with a move back to Ligue 1.
Sporting to sign Pedro Porro for €8m
Sporting will not have to wait until the summer to activate their option-to-buy clause on Porro and will do so in the coming weeks.
Porro was sent by Man City to Sporting on a two-year loan in 2020, and his parent club clearly did not anticipate his extraordinary development in the Primeira Liga when they installed a buying option.
The Spaniard has played 66 games in all competitions across two seasons for Sporting, being named the league’s Defender of the Month for three consecutive months in 2021, while he also was named in the Team of the Year the same season.
Porro has scored four goals and provided seven assists in all competitions in what's been another superb season for him.
The right-back's excellent form has garnered the attention of some of the biggest clubs on the continent and Sporting will now look to cash in.
