Manchester United will be absolutely determined to ensure that new manager Erik Ten Hag has all the necessary tools to take the club back to the top of English and European football next season.
The current Ajax boss is widely expected to take over the reins at Old Trafford in the summer and should herald a major revamp of a star-studded squad that hasn’t performed anywhere near its best in quite some time.

However, to do that the club will undoubtedly need to spend money. And a lot of it at that. So do Man Utd have the funds to get back to where they need to be?
Much of the club’s budget for next season will likely come from the sale of back-up players or key stars leaving at the end of their contracts. Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani are just three well-paid players that will be off the wage bill next season.
However, Man Utd may need to rely on the sale of players a little more than they usually do next season if things don’t pan out between now and the end of the season.
Why would Man Utd’s transfer budget shrink?
According to the Daily Mail, agents have already been told by members of the club that their transfer budget for next season could be as little as £20 million.
For a club that routinely spends over £100m per summer transfer window, that would undoubtedly be a huge hurdle for Ten Hag and his staff to overcome. So what’s the cause of this shrinking budget?
According to the English publication, qualification for the Champions League will be key to Man Utd’s revenue stream for next season and without it the club will have to tighten their belt accordingly.
As such, Ten Hag’s first season at the club may be extremely impacted on how well or how poorly Ralf Rangnick and his team do between now and May.
