Isco’s dig at Mbappe for rejecting Real Madrid
Outgoing Real Madrid star Isco has taken a shot at Kylian Mbappe following the PSG star’s decision to reject the club.
Mbappe had seemed certain to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer but, in a shock turnaround, the attacker signed a three-year extension with PSG 10 days ago.
This has infuriated everyone associated with Real Madrid, with Isco the latest to weigh in.
Upon announcing his departure from Madrid this summer on Instagram, Isco included a thinly-veiled dig at Mbappe.
What did Isco say?
“When I was at Malaga I knew I had to go [to Madrid],” he wrote in a clear reference to Mbappe.
“I had committed to another team but Real Madrid knocked on my door and Real Madrid cannot and should not be told no, although there are always exceptions.”
Isco also included an emoji of a turtle in reference to Mbappe.
The attacking midfielder also thanked everyone at Madrid for his time at the club.
“Apart from fulfilling dreams, winning more titles than I had ever imagined, playing with the greatest players, meeting incredible people: I have had the best time ever and I am damned,” he added.
“I want to thank my team mates, coaches, technical staff, physios, kit men, Valdebebas and Santiago Bernabeu workers for all the work, love and support that everyone needs and that I have never lacked.”
Isco joined Madrid from Malaga in 2013 and made 353 appearances, scoring 53 goals.
He played a pivotal role in his early years at the club, although he became a bit-part player this season and made just 17 appearances.
