Speak up, Cristiano! Ronaldo’s silence is hurting Man Utd
Cristiano Ronaldo is not normally one to hold back, so quite why the Manchester United attacker is poised to wait two weeks before formally breaking his silence over this shambolic summer transfer window is anyone’s guess.
Ronaldo has spent the summer pushing to free himself from the Old Trafford club to such an extent that he missed much of pre-season training as well as the tour or Thailand and Australia.
Naturally, this has been a leading football transfer news story in the media over the duration of nearly two months and is set to persist until the end of the window.
With each setback Man Utd suffer, interest only grows in the Ronaldo case. Unfortunately for Cristiano, these setbacks have come on a daily basis. On the field, they have lost their opening two league matches for the first time in nearly 30 years, while off it, Adrien Rabiot is just the latest of a string of transfer targets they have missed out on.
Understandably, their star man is frustrated.
“They know the truth when they interview in a couple weeks," Ronaldo posted on Instagram.
"The media is telling lies. I have a notebook and in the last few months of the 100 news I made, only five were right. Imagine how it is. Stick with that tip.”
Ronaldo fanning the flames
Instead of extinguishing the flames, Ronaldo is only succeeding in fanning them.
“Why does the greatest player of all time (in my opinion) have to wait two weeks to tell Manchester United fans the truth? Stand up now and speak,” Man Utd legend Gary Neville posted in response.
“The club is in crisis and it needs leaders to lead. He’s the only one who can grab this situation by the scruff of the neck!”

Neville is right, Ronaldo is one of the few people at Old Trafford who can move quickly to defuse the position they find themselves in.
Such comments are only increasing the intrigue in his future and the problems at Man Utd.
Logically, the only reason he wouldn’t speak out now is because in a fortnight, when the transfer window is shut, he feels he will be out of the club. Otherwise, why wait until that point before blitzing the rumours and uncertainty that he would appear to be unhappy about?
Each passing hour in which Cristiano Ronaldo is silent only serves to intensify the questions over his future and place further doubts in the mind of everyone – including new signings – that Man Utd are not equipped to come through this crisis anytime soon.
