Lewandowski: Barcelona a step up from Bayern
Barcelona’s new signing Robert Lewandowski has spoken about his joy in signing for Barcelona and how he wants to help the club return to greatness.
Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in the summer and made his official debut for the club in their La Liga fixture against Rayo Vallecano at the weekend.
He admitted his desire to leave Bayern Munich at the end of last season, and after weeks of negotiations between the two clubs, he finally made his move.
Now, he’s adamant on helping the club win silverware, after a trophyless campaign last season, and thinks it’s a positive step in his career.
Lewandowski has big ambitions
The Pole spoke to Diario Sport about his move to Catalonia: “I think it’s been too long for Barcelona without winning titles, I’m sure we’re going to win them.”
He added: “When I first learned that Barcelona were interested in bringing me to the club, I thought it was the perfect moment, for me and the club.
“In the Bundesliga, it went well, it was a great experience for me, but I knew it was a step forward for my career to go to La Liga.”

Lewandowski’s debut didn’t go as planned – he was involved in a goalless draw at home to Rayo Vallecano, as Xavi’s new team gelled together in their first outing of the season.
Lewandowski was one of five signings Barcelona made this summer, along with Raphinha, Franck Kessie, Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen, as the Blaugrana wished to strengthen on all fronts this summer.
Despite their difficult financial situation, they were still one of the summer’s highest spenders, as funds were made available through the activation of economic levers – the sale of the club’s shares and future profits.
They’re still not done in the transfer market, as they hope to add Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso to the team as well as another right-back.
