Tottenham struggling to ditch four unwanted players
Tottenham's efforts to slim down their squad are proving more difficult than anticipated.
The club has identified a number of players that are surplus to requirements following an ambitious summer spending spree in north London.
That list includes Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks and Sergio Reguilon, who have all been put up for sale after failing to meet expectations during their time at the club.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte did not include any of the quartet in his squad's pre-season tour of South Korea and Israel, while they also missed Saturday's 4-1 victory over Southampton to kick off the 2022-23 Premier League season in style.
But with just three weeks of the summer transfer window remaining, shipping out the unwanted players has not been easy.
No buyers for Tottenham flops
The Sun claims that no teams have come forward with interest in a permanent deal, meaning that Tottenham must now consider the less attractive option of sanctioning loans to get them off the books.
Lo Celso for one is wanted at Villarreal for another temporary move, after shining for the Yellow Submarine during their march to the Champions League semi-finals last term.
Villarreal might also consider a bid for Ndombele (pictured above), while Winks is said to be a target for several sides in the Premier League and Italian team Sampdoria.
Reguilon, meanwhile, had emerged as a possible signing at Sevilla earlier this summer, only for the La Liga club to eventually opt for Alex Telles, who signed a loan switch from Manchester United for the 2022-23 season.
