Chelsea CRISIS meeting held amid Potter sack talk

Chelsea have held a "strategy meeting" with Graham Potter after winning just a single one of their 10 games since the turn of the year.

The Blues' 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in mid-January remains their only triumph in 2023, with their most recent result an abject 1-0 loss to rock-bottom Southampton last Saturday.

It is not exactly the return on investment Todd Boehly will have been expecting having spent more than €600 million on players since succeeding Roman Abramovich as owner last May, but the American remains committed to Potter.

"Talks were called at the club's Cobham training ground after co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali gave their support to Potter and told senior staff to stick together after a calamitous few weeks," report the Evening Standard.

"In what has been described by sources as a "strategy meeting", discussions among the football operation at Chelsea centred around how to change course."

It is understood Chelsea still believe Potter is the man to steer them back up the table, with the former Brighton manager having had nothing to do with last summer's influx of players, whom he has had to integrate this season.

Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were among the headline-grabbing arrivals last summer, while Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk were added for big money in January - the former for a British record €120 million.

Potter's win ratio as Chelsea head coach stands at just 36 per cent.

A mass exodus is expected at Chelsea next summer, with Aubameyang set to leave alongside Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, and, potentially, Conor Gallagher.

Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana will both be made available for loan, but they better fit Boehly's "Vision 2030" for the club than the likes of Aubameyang.
