Manchester United have been urged by Gabriel Agbonlahor to get rid of Wout Weghorst and Anthony Martial this summer in order to sign Joao Felix.

United have made the signing of a top-class attacker their priority in the summer transfer market.

The Red Devils have been looking at the likes of Victor Osimhen, Harry Kane and Randal Kolo Muani.

But in recent days they have also been heavily linked with Joao Felix.

The Portuguese attacker has spent the second half of the season on loan at Chelsea from Atletico Madrid, but the Blues do not possess a buy option.

Chelsea are still understood to wish to make the deal permanent but there is nothing stopping Man Utd from moving for the player themselves.

What did Agbonlahor say?

“I really like what he’s [Felix] done so far,” Agbonlahor told Football London.

“I’ve seen a different side to him at Chelsea. At Atletico, he was playing too deep and wasn’t suited to how they play.

“At Chelsea, you see him getting on the ball, twisting past players – and he’s got a bit of pace as well. I really like him, but he’s got to be more clinical.

“I don’t see any reason why Man United can’t get him. They need options if they’re in the Champions League next season.

“Martial isn’t good enough, nor is Weghorst – scrap them. Antony and Sancho haven’t been great, so you’re talking about Rashford as their only threat.

“They need help, or it could be an embarrassing time in the Champions League for them. Felix, for me, would be a good signing for them.”

Joao Felix’s performances for Chelsea have been largely good since arriving on loan in January.

However, his goalscoring numbers - like many of his teammates - have not been satisfactory.

Felix has scored two goals in 12 games at Stamford Bridge.
