Pep Guardiola: Don’t sack Ten Hag
Pep Guardiola has pleaded with Manchester United not to sack under-fire manager Erik ten Hag.
Guardiola and Ten Hag go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford in the first Manchester derby of the season.
Ten Hag is under heavy pressure going into the game after Man Utd made their worst start to a season for over 30 years.
But Guardiola says that it is way too early to be calling for a change of management at United and has given Ten Hag his backing.
What did Guardiola say?
"Nine games! Just nine! United is able to win four, five, six games in a row,” Guardiola said.
“When they do that, they'll be on top. They'll be there. Take time.
“Leave the manager to do their jobs. Man United, still, when something happens is on the highlights all day.”
United are struggling down in ninth position in the Premier League after losing four games already in their first nine matches.
They are also struggling to qualify from their Champions League group after losing two of their first three games in their pool to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
United have shown some improvement in the last few matches by winning three games in a row in all competitions.
They will be desperate to keep that run going against Man City on Sunday.
City have had a slow start to the season by their high standards but can still move back into joint-second by beating United.
Tottenham remain top of the league after winning at Fulham on Friday.
