Carlos Baleba was brought by Brighton over the summer window to replace Moises Caicedo - but will the teenager good enough to secure a record move away?
Well, the evidence so far certainly suggests he might be. Bought from Lille ahead of the 2023/24 season, the Cameroon 19-year-old has featured in just one full match for the Seagulls so far - their 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
It was a game in which Baleba shone, playing in a double pivot with Pascal Gross. Against the Reds, Baleba completed six recoveries, three interceptions, and won seven duels that he faced.

It appears that the youngster is just getting started where his Premier League career is concerned.

Baleba started his playing career at Futur Soccer FC in Douala. He then joined Ecole de Football des Brasseries du Cameroun academy centre at the age of 13, before earning a move to Lille in 2022. He didn’t break into the first team until last campaign, where he played in 21 games in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit.

It was just a single campaign but it was enough to convince the Brighton recruitment team to bring him in. They clinched the signing of Baleba for €27 million.
