Andre Onana has hit back at Roy Keane after the Man Utd legend labelled the Cameroonian goalkeeper as the biggest disappointment of the season.

Onana signed for Man Utd this past summer for €51 million - plus €4m in bonuses - from Inter Milan.

Big things were expected of the 27-year-old, who had enjoyed an outstanding Champions League season with the Nerazzurri last term, playing a key role in their run to the final.

He kept more clean sheets than anyone in the tournament, including five in the knockout rounds, as Inter narrowly and unluckily lost 1-0 to Man City in the showpiece in June. He was also heralded as the best goalkeeper in the world with the ball at his feet.

However, Onana has endured a terrible start to the season, making a string of mistakes and conceding 39 goals in 26 games in all competitions.

This recently lead to Keane criticising Onana, but the goalkeeper has hit back.

What did Keane and Onana say?

“The biggest disappointment has to be André Onana,” Keane said.

“I think Manchester United were right to get rid of David de Gea, but for the club to have brought someone else in and for him to be struggling.”

Onana responded to Keane,: “If I have to speak about my season so far for Manchester United, I am not happy because I know I can do much, much better, I’ve done it, and I know I will do it better than what is happening now.

“We are not facing a good moment. I hope things will change as soon as possible.

“But listen, you want to tell me in six months, the best goalkeeper in the Champions League last season can become the worst in the world? Nah.

“Everything is temporary. I know it’ll be alright. If not today, it will be tomorrow, if not tomorrow, the day after tomorrow.”

Onana and Man Utd will be hoping that tomorrow is today when they travel to Anfield to play rivals and leaders Liverpool in the Premier League.
