Arsenal send scouts for Chelsea target
Arsenal have sent scouts multiple times to watch Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 21-year-old is considered one of the most exciting young wingers in all of Europe.
He is already wanted by both Real Madrid and Barcelona, with the two La Liga giants said to be fighting over his signature.
And now Romano has confirmed interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, with the former having sent scouts on a number of occasions to watch him.
Arsenal are in the market for a winger this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to take the pressure off first-choice stars Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

What did Romano say?
“Arsenal have also sent their scouts to follow Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao multiple times, and it’s the same for Chelsea as they included him in the list last summer,” Romano said.
“The race is completely open, and nothing is advanced with either club so far. He’d be great in the Premier League in my opinion – a physical and technical player; very good one.”
The emergence of Nico Williams
Williams has emerged as an electric talent over the last year or so.
Blessed with lightning pace and dribbling skills, he has a promising future in the game.
After making his debut for Athletic in 2021, Williams has scored 17 goals in 109 games. He has also scored two goals in 11 games for Spain, and travelled to the 2022 World Cup.
This season he has five goals in 24 games, carrying on his form from last term when he found the net nine times in 43.
His brother is fellow Athletic Bilbao star Inaki Williams, who plays his international football for the Ghana national team.
